coorg diary: vivanta by taj

i bumped into a friend at nature's basket a few days ago. she was wondering where i had been as she commented that i looked so happy and relaxed and that she had never (to date!) seen me like this. i was of course not pleased to hear that i typically look rushed/stressed/time-starved but the upside is that it confirmed to me that taking a break is good - it helps my mind and body rejuvenate and get back to its happy self!

so what is the secret of my recent glow? nothing other than a family vacation to heaven on earth aka vivanta by taj - madikeri, coorg. my blog readers will know what a big vivanta by taj fan i am but this vivanta truly outdoes all others! imagine waking up to a panoramic vista of a 180 acre rainforest...walking through the forest with a professional naturalist educating you on every minutae of the flora and fauna all around... taking a master class with the artist in residence at a pottery studio deep in the woods...sipping a glass of vino tinto at the terrace restaurant while the sun sets across the expansive property.. swimming in the infinity pool some four thousand feet above sea level... gorging on the tastiest coorgi curries...board games in front of the rustic fireplace and in-room dining (the biryani is to die for!)...virtual golfing at any world class course at the high-tech activity centre..beating your spouse at pool and table tennis...dozing off thanks to an excellent deep tissue massage at jiva..total indulgence by the staff..these are just a few of the many things you can experience at the newly opened vivanta at coorg. and there are many more experiences to be had outside the property like a visit to the elephant orphanage and others. the only downside is the schlep to get  there. fly to managlore and drive 3.5 hours or fly to bangalore and and drive 5.5 hours. now if you have a heli to take you there then you're golden. vbt, coorg has a helipad just a stone's throw away. now, that's heavenly ;)

let me say no more. let the pictures do the talking!!

Long time listener, first time caller... I live in the U.S., but I've long had an unexplainable fascination with Coorg, which is waaaaay more of a schlep for me! This place looks a-mazing. You're very lucky!!

Hi Julie! Lovely to hear from you. Do make the schlep one day, it is truly worth it!
